I am often asked how we make our jewelry, so here is the answer to that.
It all starts with a lump of clay.
Then each piece is formed by hand and the images are pressed or drawn into the clay. This is one of our favorite steps because this is when we can really get creative, inventing new shapes and new patterns and drawing directly on the clay.
After the shapes are formed and pressed they must dry out at least overnight and longer for the thicker pieces like bracelets.
After the clay is dry it is put into the kiln and fired for the first time.
After the first firing. Each piece is individually painted with ceramic glazes.
Now the painted pieces are loaded into the kiln and fired for a second time.
The final pieces are strung on leather or chain and are ready to meet the world!
After the final firing the pieces or as we like to call them, “the treasure” is ready to cool and come out of the kiln.
